How are new technologies (e.g. medical algorithms, risk maps, etc.) organised in work? These publications are based on ethnographic research in NHS England hospitals, social care providers, and emergency management agencies, as well as research in banking.
Policy piloting and implementation
How do policy and legal regulations introduce uncertainties to organisations? These publications are based on a policy ethnography of NHS England and an in-depth ethnography of a European brokerage firm implementing the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) economic program.
Ethics of quantitative research
Is quantitative research ethical? This series of publications analyses, critiques and proposes an alternative to quantitative research that adopts a dogmatic and uncritical position on reality. It emphasises the ways that statistics and probability are used unethically to ignore or hide uncertainty.
Uncertainty in quantitative methods
How might quantitative research methods better incorporate uncertainty into their calculations? In collaboration with statisticians and other quantitative researchers, these publications extend structural equation modelling (SEM) in response to this question
